You’ve jumped into social media and hopefully you’re getting more comfortable and confident. Here’s a
quick list of some do’s and dont’s to keep in mind as you continue to learn and grow with social media.
- DO try new things. Mix it up and be innovative.
- DON’T be a fake. Take off the mask and be authentic.
- DO schedule time each week to dedicate to social media.
- DON’T be overwhelmed. Take it one step at a time and do the best you can with the resources available.
- DO hire marketing staff with experience in social media.
- DON’T give up. Results take time.
- DO take time to benchmark your current web traffic and continue to track your results along the way.
- DON’T view social media as a one way messaging strategy. To be truly beneficial it must be a two way conversation.
- DO keep up with the current trends. Single out a few blogs to read on a regular basis to keep yourself up to date.
- DON’T spam people. Skip the corporate baloney.
- DO provide valuable content that people can use.
- DON’T rely on social media to be the miracle solution to your company’s problems.
- DO be consistent.
- DON’T publish anything that you will later regret.
- DO utilize time saving social media tools, like Flock
- DON’T be afraid to ask for help. Engage the expertise of a social media consultant.
- DO promote you presence on social media through email signatures, business cards, website, etc.
