Hire a SEO company or do it in-house?

SEO Made Simple: Part 4

While crafting a successful SEO campaign isn’t as complicating as fixing our economy, it certainly takes time, talent, and resources. When making the decision to do your SEO in-house or to hire a professional, take the following things into consideration.

  • Time: Optimizing a site and building a successful SEO campaign takes time-lots of time.  Because SEO is an ever-changing strategy, time must be invested throughout the campaign for it to pay off.  If you choose to do SEO in-house, you are pulling one of your team members away from another task that may be vital to your business success.
  • Knowledge: In addition to the main components of SEO, there are additional tools and strategies needed to get your web page to the top of the rankings.  In most cases, outside SEO experts have a level of knowledge and expertise that cannot be matched by in-house staff.
  • Money: The initial cost of hiring a SEO company can be substantive, but the return on investment and payoff is great.  However, doing SEO in-house can often be just as expensive, if not more, because of high employee salaries (and benefits), not to mention the additional time and cost involved if the employee doesn’t really know what they are doing.
  • Results: If you are looking to get to the top of Google rankings as quickly as you can (who doesn’t want that?)  then hiring an outside SEO company or expert is the way to go.  A reputiable SEO expert who is on top of current trends and technologies can get your ranked much quicker than someone who is doing it in-house, on a part-time basis.
