Be More Productive Online and Say Goodbye to Internet Explorer

Data shows that the usage of Internet Explorer as a browser is declining at a record rate, and for good reason. IE6 is now eight years old and can be incredibly unstable. I haven’t found IE7 to be much better. In addition to being unstable and having a lot of security issues, it also doesn’t have a lot of the additional add-ons that Firefox or Google Chrome has. It’s also incredibly slow in comparision.

This chart from Net Applications gives you a visual representation of the decline of IE and the rise of Firefox, Safari (now available for PC’s and Mac users), and Google Chrome.

In 2008, Firefox’s market share rose 27% and Safari’s market share skyrocketed up 42%.

Now is the perfect time to retire your IE browser (before it comes obsolete) and upgrade to Firefox, Chrome, or Safari. If you’re actively involved with social media, try Flock- a browser designed to help you monitor your social media tools all in one spot.

I recommend downloading multiple browsers and taking them for a test drive. That’s the best way to figure out which one is right for you.

If you’re like most converts, once you make the switch away from IE to a better, faster, more stable browser you’ll never look back.
